Everest Hut Resort has been established in Lamahatta village on 24 December 2012 by Mr and Mrs Tashi Sherpa. Everest Hut Resort is a simple homely home stay where tourist can enjoy an eco-friendly holiday experience at LAMAHATTA.
Lamahatta Homestay is an eco-tourism Destination. Thanks to the vision of Chief Minister of the West Bengal Hon. Mamata Banerjee, Lamahatta the roadside mountain village with its vast stretching forests of dhupi & pines, and the magnificent views of the peaks and rivers around is now an important tourist eco-tourist designation in Darjeeling.
As per the folk story - Before independence some buddist monks (lama-in nepali) used to stay at this place, when lot of monastery were constructed the monks were resettled in the monastery. So hence the name of the place lovingly was called as LAMA – HATTA ie Lama – meaning - Buddhist monk, hatta – meaning - hut.
Lamahatta is located at an altitude of about 5,700 feet and at a distance of 23kms from Darjeeling hill town. The prime attraction of Lamahatta is its untouched natural beauty. The magnificent Kanchenjunga mountain range and the Teesta river adds to the beauty of this place. A number of trekking route are also there at Lamahatta.
